6. You can also toggle on “Manual Filter,” which will allow you to choose specific words ( phrases ) that will trigger Instagram to hide a comment.
7. Additionally, on this page, you can choose to block comments from certain people. This is different from blocking an account altogether, as they can still view your photos but the comments they leave on your photo will only be visible to them.

Whether it is on your post, live, or story, it won’t matter because once you turn on this feature you won’t have to always look if you received any unwanted comments on your profile. How to turn this feature on:

1. First, go to your profile which is in the top right corner so that you can access the side menu. 
2. Then go to settings> Privacy and under the “Interactions” sections select “Comments. 
3. Under “filters” you will see “Hide offensive comments” turn that on and you are done.

2. Set Filters To Hide Certain Words & Phrases

You can hide certain words or phrases on your profile that you no longer want to be able to get on your profile then you set up this feature and you are done. The phrases/words that you select to automatically hide from your profile won’t be seen anymore on your comment section. Only the user who commented and their friend list will be able to see the comment (The user also won’t get a notification about the hidden comment ) How to set this filter:

1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
2. Tap Settings in the top left.
3. Click Privacy and Security, then tap Edit CommentSettings.
4. Enter specific words, phrases, numbers, or even emojis in the text box to filter out comments, and then click Submit. …
5. Tap Submit.

3. Disable/Turn Off Comments On Your Instagram

Another way is to turn off the whole comment section on your posts before you even share your post. When you turn off your comment section then no matter what the comment is about then they won’t be able to post it.

When you are ready to share the post on Instagram and only need to put on a caption then at the end of the screen you will click “Advanced settings.

Then turn click on “Turn off commenting”.

Another way:

Go to Posts > All Posts (or Pages > All Pages)

1. Locate the post or page you want to enable/disable comments on.
2. Hover over its title to bring up the action menu and click on Quick Edit.
3. Check or uncheck ‘Allow Comments‘ then click on Update.

What is Instagram?

Instagram is a free, online photo-sharing application and social media platform where users can upload stories that are available to look at for twenty-four hours. But if you want your story to be available for more than that then there is a feature called “Highlight”. 

The highlight will appear as a Stories-style bubble on your profile and will play like one big Story when tapped by one of your followers. Instagram Story Highlights were announced on December 5, 2017. Instagram Stories is now used by around 400 million times on a daily basis, and it’s a way that gives your friends/ family new ways to feel closer to you.

But did you know that you can also add music to your Instagram story? This feature of adding music was introduced on June 28, 2018. You are able to add a soundtrack to your story which helps you express how you’re feeling. 

How to add it to your story?

When you select the photo/video that you want to post as your story you will have to click on the sticker icon which is at the top of the screen then you will be able to see a music icon. You can either search for a song of your preference or choose one that you feel describes best your story ( there are more than a thousand songs to choose from and are still being added more every day ). 

You can explore a particular song, browse by mood, genre or what is popular and tap the play button to listen to a preview of the music that you chose (the songs come in every genre including Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, and Jazz, etc).

After you have heard the preview you can fast-forward, and rewind through the track so that you can choose the exact part that you want to play in your story.

You can also add choose a song before capturing your video/picture. First, you have to open your camera, then swipe to the new “ Music  ” option which is under the record button. Search the song that you want ( the exact part you want) and then just record as usual while the music that you selected plays in the background. 

You can also:

• Select how you want the music to visually appear on your Story, whether they are lyrics, the cover art of the album the song comes from, or a little text box announcing the name of the song. 
• You can also adjust the length of the music segment from five to 15 seconds by tapping the circle on the left side of the music clip that reads ” 15 ” by default.

When your friends are watching your story, they will be able to hear the song playing as they are viewing your photo or video. They will also see a sticker showing the song title and the artist’s name. The music sticker is now available as part of the Instagram version and coming to more than 51 counties, this feature is available on iOS and android. 

 This feature may not be available for you for 2 reasons:

1. It’s because it’s not available in your country ( This feature is only available in 90 countries there are more are coming soon, but due to Instagram’s strict adherence to copyright law, it’s disabled in a few countries ).
2. You need to update your Instagram
3. You are trying to share a branded content campaign and due to copyright laws and Instagram’s advertising policies, music and some other features like stickers and emojis aren’t allowed in branded content ads.

Which Countries Have Access to the Music Sticker?

It was stated that the music sticker feature is only available in “ selected countries. ” and these selected countries originally included Germany, Australia, New Zealand, France, Sweden, the UK, and the US. It is unknown when other countries will have access to the music sticker, but we are hoping that it will happen very soon.

How to add music if the sticker Music doesn’t work?

If your music sticker doesn’t work don’t worry there is another way you can add music to your story:

1. First open a music streaming app, like Apple Music/ Spotify,..etc on your device.
2. Start playing the song that you want to use. 
3. When the song starts playing go back to Instagram and start recording your Story, the music playing on your phone will be integrated but unfortunately, you won’t be able to add a powerful album cover or live lyrics.

You also need to know that if you add music this way, Instagram will check your Story for copyright infringement, and if detected, they will remove the sound from your video.

What is Instagram?

Instagram is a social media platform as we mentioned with over one billion accounts that allow you to share photos and videos with your friends ( you can also edit them so you have the perfect picture for your feed). Whenever you open the app you will see the recent accounts that you follow.

How to sign up for it?

You can sign up for Instagram by just downloading the app for free on your iOS, Android, or Windows device. When you download the app you will have two options:

1. Sign up ( sign up by filling out a form with your personal information)
2. Log in ( log in through Facebook)

If you don’t have Facebook and choose the first option then you only need to fill in a form with your email, mobile number, name, username, and password. Then just click next and you are done. 

If you choose the second option then you only need to click “Log in with Facebook” and then just click Done. Your Facebook account will automatically be linked to your Instagram account.

What do these buttons mean?

Let’s learn what each icon means so that you don’t feel lost when you start using Instagram:

• Home: The home button is your main feed where you can scroll through photos/ videos posted by your followers.
• Search and explore: The magnifying glass icon in your Explore page, where you can search for new content from accounts that you don’t follow but might be interested in ( after a while your explore page will only include things that you search for and are interested in).
• Upload: The big plus button is how you can upload and edit photos and videos, either by choosing from your phone’s camera roll or opening the camera within the app. (learn how to upload pictures on Instagram here).
• Activity: The heart icon takes you to a page that informs you of the latest likes/ comments on your page, while also informing you who has followed you.
• Profile: This icon navigates to your profile page which shows your bio and posts. It’s also where you can access your settings. 
• Your story: At the top of the page you will see a button in a circle and under it is written: “Your story” which you can post a picture/ video which will show up for 24 hours
• Direct message: By taping or in the top right or swipe left from anywhere in Feed to send someone a direct message ( remember if you send a message to someone who doesn’t follow you, this message will be classified into its own “message requests” folder.

How can I follow someone on Instagram?

When you are on Instagram you need friends so that pictures will show on your main feed. So let’s learn how to follow your friends on Instagram.

1. First, you click on the search icon (small magnifying glass on the bottom of the screen)
2. Then click the person’s name and their profile with their pictures will show up ( if their accounts aren’t private)
3. Once you are in someone else’s profile you will see a “Follow” button at the top and if their profiles are public you will immediately begin following them, but if their profile is private you will need to wait for them to accept your friend request.

How to make your profile public/ private?

Make your account private:

Phone

1. Tap the icon to access your Profile, which looks like a person’s head and shoulders. 
2. Tap the three lines at the top right of the screen, then tap the Settings icon, which seems like a cog
3. Tap Privacy and security > Account privacy and then turn on the Private Account

PC: 

1. Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click Settings.
2. Click Privacy and Security.
3. Under Account Privacy, click to check the box next to Private Account.
4. To make your profile public follow the same steps except at the end you will uncheck the “Private Account” box.

Regardless of which device you use, you will see a confirmation message in which you need to click OK the change. And if you, later on, change your mind and want to change it from private-public or vice versa you can so don’t worry.
